Industrial Design. Urban Design

“Urbis” Programme, 1993

Urban furniture.

Initially conceived as a more ambitious and larger programme of equipment for urban public areas, it would end up being restricted to two models. Although they were standard products, their varied formal characterization was derived from their suitability to a typology of contexts established at the outset. The Tabuado bench was intended for historic centres and small towns, where a certain simplicity of character would be justified. The Fradique bench, made wholly of metal and having some formal sophistication, was trying to match the romantic imagery of 19th century gardens.

Fradique bench and Tabuado bench, outdoor furniture modelsremain today among the outdoor furniture, presented by the Atelier Daciano da Costa, produced and marketed by Julcar.
