From the transatlantic connection of Brazil and Portugal, ETEL presents at SP–Arte VR a collection of original reeditions of pieces, created by these two Portuguese from birth, and precursors of modern design: Joaquim Tenreiro and Daciano da Costa.
The exhibition unveils the frontiers that separate the creations of these two designers, despite their common country of birth. Joaquim Tenreiro, father of Brazilian modern design, is renown for testing the limits between art and design, creating unique pieces, using Brazilian native wood, and a sophisticated craftmanship technique. Along with Tenreiro we present the work of Daciano da Costa, renown as the father of Portuguese modern design, who created pieces aligned with the European mind at the time, combining a good drawing and project with a serial production.
