Metal Furniture: Adico and Atelier Daciano da Costa Reissue “Iconic Pieces of Portuguese Design”, The metal furniture company, with a factory in Avanca, Estarreja, known for its ‘Portuguese Chair,’ “joins forces with Atelier Daciano da Costa for a collaboration that aims to revitalize and celebrate the legacy of the pioneer of national design.”, 16 January 2025

According to a statement, the Adico–Daciano da Costa partnership enables the “reissue of some of the most emblematic pieces by the ‘father of Portuguese design,’ Daciano da Costa, with an approach that respects the history and character of the original pieces while adapting them to a contemporary context.”

Daciano da Costa (1930–2005) is widely recognized as a central figure in 20th-century Portuguese design. The first initiative of this collaboration is the reissue of the iconic ‘Peninsular Chair,’ considered “a landmark of modernist design.” The piece will be unveiled to the public at the upcoming edition of Maison et Objet, held in Paris from January 16 to 20.

“This launch symbolizes the commitment of both entities to preserving and promoting the cultural and artistic heritage of the designer, placing it in the spotlight on major international stages,” the press release states.
