Through a series of conversations that took place at the Roca Lisboa Gallery between 2021 and 2022, we sought to trace the historical path, particularly in the design of the chair in a national context. By analyzing the most iconic piece of seating furniture, the chair, we will try to construct its evolution and contextualization through structured readings directly with its creators. The exhibition reports on some of the most important examples, already of historical significance, from the participants in this nucleus of conversations that has now become an exhibition. Looking at this object as a barometer of the cultural and social conditions in the country, through pieces by Carmo Valente, António Garcia, Daciano da Costa, Nuno Ladeiro, Toni Grilo, Marco Sousa Santos, Paulo Parra, Pedro Silva Dias and Daniel Caramelo, we will try to sketch a picture of the second half of the 20th century around chair design in Portugal.
